A Living Room Makeover

When I moved into my condo in the summer of 2008, I was pleased to see that the builders had chosen nice shades of tan and beige paints, meaning I didn't have to paint right away. It was a blank slate - I didn't have to be in a rush to decide what themes and colors to use. As a first-time homeowner, I wanted to take my time buying furniture and art.

Since then, I have been slowing filling up my home, piece by piece. My living room has morphed from the blank slate up above to one with a couch and some black and white M.C. Escher prints, and then later, a coffee table and rug.

I even then got a cute bookshelf from my fav store IKEA to continue the new black and white modern theme. In the spring, I was sent (by a very loving family friend) a gorgeous home-sewn blanket to use in my new home. Little did this friend know that her yellow blanket was just what my black and white scheme needed to pull it all together! Note the color tab on the right - I instantly went to Home Depot to try and find the perfect shade of yellow for the wall.

After a few weeks of debating on the perfect shade, I finally decided to paint that accent wall! Two coats of gorgeous "Warm Gold" Glidden paint later (and a few beers with my painting assistant), here's the fabulous "new" room!
