It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

I love my neighborhood of Buckhead. And yes, it is exactly that, despite what you might think -- it's actually a neighborhood underneath all those malls, stores, traffic and tourists.

A random Wednesday evening out on the town always reminds me what a small world it is around this town. Last night new bff Sarah-Ann and I were sitting at the bar at Prohibition (there were a few things she wanted to celebrate, including the Jewish New Year, and I, being the great Catholic gal pal that I am, said of course!). First of all, if you haven't been to Prohibition yet, go. Except you need a code to get in. And if you don't have it, I might share it with you. The bartenders have warned us that if you share the code with people you wouldn't otherwise leave your house keys with, and if they misbehave while there, you are getting kicked out too. They are serious about their private-status, y'all.

Anyways, after a round of lovely concoctions from our gentlemanly bartender friends, our little bite plates came out (oh goodness, cheese plate, mac n' cheese and chocolate pot all equal WINS from what I tried of them!) and we look around a bit ....

And who has just sat down directly next to me at the bar, but this man:

Mr. Kevin Rathbun.

Mr. Kevin -- Iron Chef winner / owns swank awesome restaurants Krog Bar/Kevin Rathbun Steak/Rathbuns / getting roasted this Fall at the Atlanta Community Food Bank -- Rathbun.

Well, then. Hello, sir!

Buckhead is a neighborhood. Nothing proves it more than the hour we spent chatting it up with Kevin and Rathbun's manager Jeff at the bar while they sampled the cocktail and cigar menus and we attempted to act cooler than starstruck foodies. It was just all of us, neighbors and fellow exclusive-bar lovers, hanging out after the work day had ended. What a perfectly relaxing, yet fabulous, Wednesday night in the neighborhood.

PS. Did you know that Kevin was an executive chef at Nava and was the creator of my all-time-favorite Smoked Tomato Grits with Red Chile-Seared Scallops dish? He gets even more extra-credit foodie points with me for that one :)

OMG, that is too funny! Prohibition is so much fun... I'm always waiting for Chuck Bass to jump out from around the corner haha.

How cool!! I've lived in Buckhead for a year now and I haven't heard of Prohibition. Sounds like fun!

Belle - I so agree!! And btw can Gossip Girl start back up soon or what?!

Lacey - it's a blast! It's a bit off the beaten path, though - you wouldn't even notice it's there. They are sneaky like that :)
